ABFS Seniors visit the Malacanan Palace

The senior students of the AB Foreign Service program finally got the chance to visit the Malacanan Palace on November 19, 2009. The visit is supposedly a part of their Diplomatic-Consular Practice and Orientation subject in the previous semester.

The whole group, together with their program coordinator, Prof Noe L. Pobadora and two other professors namely Prof. Irwin Blanco and Prof. Fame Pascua took part in that much awaited visit.

While waiting for the arrival of the President, Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, delightful refreshments were served to them at the Heroes Hall. Upon the arrival of PGMA, the seniors were given the opportunity to meet the president upclose and to shakehands with her. They were also lucky enough to take shots with PGMA. General Hermogenes Esperon, the head of the Presidential Management Staffs (PMS) was also present during the visit.

Aside from the privilege of meeting PGMA and other government officials, they were able to tour around the Malacanan Museum situated at the Kalayaan Hall which was the Old Executive Building located at the heart of the Malacanan Palace complex.

Their tour around the Malacanan Museum is the most exciting cultural trek to the past even without riding a fictional “time machine.” Despite the interesting and intellectually satisfying visit though, it only took them about an hour and a half to tour that cultural and historic repository showcasing the rich heritage of the Palace and the Presidency of the Philippines.

The seniors insatiable pursuit for discovery has catalyzed the impetus to explore in greater measure the Malacanan Palace and eventually, to meet the country's highest ranking official.
